
About The Designer
Haley Tynes graduated from University of Virginia in May 2017. She received her Masters of Fine Arts in Costume Design and Technology.
Haley majored in theatre while attending the University of Central Arkansas where she acted, directed, and designed props. The university's costume shop hired Haley during her sophomore year. It was then that her love of costumes blossomed.
Haley designed her first show a year later. By the time she graduated, she designed over seven other productions. Haley received a certificate of from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for excellence in Costume Design for The Caucasian Chalk Circle. She was named the 2013-2014 Theatre Student of The Year, an award given by her professors and peers. At the University of Virginia, she received nominations from the KCACTF for her designs of The Triumph of Love and Shipwrecked! An Entertainment, The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont.
Haley worked for the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre when not in class. She spent two summers as a costume intern and wardrobe member and came back for the 2014 season as a designer for the children adaptation of The Comedy of Errors.
In 2013, Haley worked at the Port House Theatre as Head of Wardrobe for the season. This experience was followed by another position as Head of Wardrobe at Music Theatre Wichita for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. In 2017, she was promoted to the role of Assistant to the Costume Designers. She juggled five main stage musicals in four months.
Haley lives in Brooklyn, NY. She worked as a Dresser for The Off-Broadway Musical Jerry Springer: The Opera with the New Group. Her current project is Assisting Costume Designer Martha Hally in the upcoming The Conflict with the Mint Theatre.
